The trouble with Thor, the warrior-prince of Asgard, is that he does all his thinking with his hammer. When Thor's carelessness plunges Asgard into war, his father banishes him to a dull wasteland: Earth. Thor is stripped of his powers until he can prove himself worthy. Meanwhile, a malevolent force wants Thor out of the picture completely, even if it means destroying Earth in the process. With the help of an extraordinary human woman, Thor must find a way to save both himself and the planet that has become his home.
Three Good Reasons
1The story comes from the same Marvel-ous minds who brought us Iron Man, Spider-Man, and the X-Men.
2 Oscar-winner Natalie Portman, an unashamed comic book fan, brings all of her beauty and talent to the role of astrophysicist Jane Foster.
3 Not a comic buff? That's all right. Director Kenneth Branagh is the perfect man to draw you into the movie's Shakespearean themes of family conflict, redemption, heroism, and love.
Bet You Didn't Know
For nearly 50 years in the comics, Thor has mostly been depicted as being clean-shaven. The filmmakers did camera tests with Chris Hemsworth where he didn't have facial hair, but they decided the baby-faced 27-year-old looked more godlike with a beard.
